Julio was in a precarious situation

Thanks to our orthopaedic workshop, he no longer is

A tale of woe that Europeans or Americans can hardly imagine. Julio underwent emergency surgery due to a severe hemorrhage in his head. He lost part of his skull during this operation. He didn’t have the money for a titanium plate worth 12,000 soles (3,000 euros) and the Peruvian healthcare system didn’t offer him a solution.

On the right side, his brain was totally exposed directly under the scalp. A heavy blow to the head or an unexpected fall would put his life in great danger. Our team at the Orthopaedic Center found a way out. They produced a 3D model of the head and printed a protective plate made of hard plastic. The result protects his brain and restores his normal appearance.

We would like to thank Christian Haupt and Daniel Müller, whose hard work has made a huge difference to the patient’s life. Julio is overjoyed. Now he can face the future in peace and with a sense of security.

Julio’s head is now protected by a hard plastic plate.
He can certainly live with this result now.
