In the end, only a personal conversation will help

At SUNEDU in Lima

We’ve been going round in circles for a year now. The calls and emails go back and forth. The result: standstill and uncertainty for our foreign employees. The SUNEDU authority is responsible for the registration and recognition of academic titles in Peru. All our doctors depend on the cooperation of this authority.

In the end, there was only one solution: direct talks with the authority’s top officials. This meeting, which took place on Friday morning in Lima, was arranged by the Peruvian Foreign Minister, the Education Minister and an advisor to the President.

As usual, the meeting began with a presentation on the history and vision of our work. The officials were quite excited. “We never hear anything like that here,” they said and promised that our applications would be processed quickly. After 12 months of back and forth, three of us had to fly to Lima.

Nothing can replace a round table discussion. No phone call, no email, no Zoom conference and no postal letter. We always ask for God’s blessing so that we don’t get lost in the jungle of Peruvian bureaucracy. /KDJ
