Having one’s eyes and ears wide open with the common aim: making progress in the building projects
Dear Diospi Suyana Friends, in parts of Southern Peru heavy rainfall has caused flooding and landslides. We on the other hand enjoyed relatively dry weather which meant that we could make good progress on the foundation work for the new kindergarten. All 17 foundation pits have been excavated and the not sustainable soil has been replaced by lean concrete. This week 14 individual foundations measuring 1.60 x 1.60 x 0.40 m have been encased, reinforced and concreted. Next week the remaining ones are on the agenda as are the foundation beams.
Peu à peu our Operating Theatre Extension is progressing. Two of the team continue working hard on the inner plastering. In the meantime the subcontractor has fitted all the gutters and will hopefully have fully completed his task by next week.
The interior work of the Media Centre’s new story is continuing nicely. Tiling the access stairwell was finicky and trying work, but since its completion the external access ramp can be dismantled. The tiling work continues in the corridors. The office doors are in place and only need to be glazed.
In the studios our master mechanic Oebele de Haan and his team have put the first three (extremely heavy) soundproof windows in place. They were kindly donated by company Metallbau Quosdorf. Office by office the painter is applying the finishing coat for the walls.
In the toilets the sanitary objects have been installed. Cordial greetings from Curahuasi, Udo.
