A prosthetic arm from the orthopaedic workshop

Christian Haupt, the head of our Orthopaedic Center, writes:

“Efraín lives in the state of Arequipa. He is 13 years old. As a small child, he got his hand caught in an electric meat grinder. His mother hadn’t been paying attention for a moment and by then it was already too late. His forearm had to be amputated just below the elbow. For a long time they couldn’t find any help and Efraín had to struggle along without his left arm. Two years ago, we fitted him with a 3D printed arm prosthesis. Now he can ride his bike again and is over the moon!”

Don Alex (above, next to the boy) is currently being trained by Christian Haupt. He made the prosthetic arm – his journeyman’s piece, so to speak.
