A 90 minute ceremony in the Town Hall
To date more than 25,000 patients from Puno State have been treated in the Hospital Diospi Suyana. Both the Government of the Departamentos as well as Puno’s City Council considered this milestone worth being commemorated in style: we received official honours in the Banner Hall of the Town Hall. After the opening speech given by the Director General of the City Council Dr John gave a PowerPoint presentation to the 30 dignitaries present about the work of faith Diospi Suyana. He honoured the support of the many missionaries, who had invested years of their lives in Curahuasi. Through their financial support almost 1,000 donors support the daily work of the hospital. The true architect of the Hospital, the School and the Media Centre is Jesus Christ, God himself.
Udo Klemenz, Doris Manco, Chris Welch and Dr. John received the Certificate of Honour of the City of Puno. The missionary doctor furthermore received the Order of Merit both of the City and of the Country. Not to be missed were the cordial greetings of his wife Martina, who is known personally by some of the dignitaries present.
The journalist Liubomir Fernandez from the nationwide newspaper “La República“ was the initiator of the event. He has visited the hospital twice and is fully aware of the far-reaching significance of the missionary hospital for Southern Peru.
A wish often expressed by those present at the event was a Hospital Diospi Suyana in their own State.
