Of course, on the plane, between rows 10 and 12
Maylia Velasquez (second from the left), a native of Peru, has been working for many years at a Latino church in London. Her brother Eliseo (on the right in the photo) is the pastor of a similar congregation in Paris. They are currently visiting their home country with some family members. Both have heard a lot about Diospi Suyana. And that’s why Pastor Maylia decided that, in addition to Machu Picchu, she had to pay a visit to Diospi Suyana as well.
On Wednesday, her small tour group flew from Lima to Cusco. Since I had finished my work in Lima around noon, I quickly drove to the airport and boarded the plane.
When I arrived in Cusco, a friendly woman approached me while I was still on the plane. “Aren’t you Dr. John?” I am, in fact. The pastor from London had been sitting two rows behind me.
Yesterday, I told her, her brother, and his wife the story of Diospi Suyana at a restaurant in Cusco. Thankfully, the staff turned the music down a bit. And this week, the three of them plan to come to Curahuasi to see everything for themselves.
Who knows what will come of this “chance” encounter on the Airbus. God knows. He must have had a reason for it. /KDJ
