Generosity is a characteristic that can be learnt
It is hard to overestimate the value of a child’s pocket money. Every penny is extremely precious. Usually one’s own financial means cannot keep up in the slightest with one’s wishes. The young lady Johanna is seven years old and supports Diospi Suyana with the grand sum of €7,60. If the ALDI-Family supported our work by the same percentage of their wealth, we could easily build two brand-new hospitals.
But what motivates a young girl to pursue such an unusual idea and part with some of her precious pocket money? It could be the example of her parents whose eyes are constantly open for the needs of the world. Her mother is well-read in the “Book of Books”. Once she read her daughter some verses of the prophet Malachi: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
Put a different way, God pays us back many times over, if we put our belongings and possessions at his disposal. I myself have experienced this many times and others Christians have told me similar stories from their lives.
So in the name of the Verein Diospi Suyana e.V. and all staff in Peru we cordially thank Johanna. When you are older you simply have to visit us in the Andes and of course you will be bringing Mummy and Daddy with you! /KDJ
