Gratitude – melancholy – amazement
November 2003: 20 years ago, the John family tried to renovate a makeshift mud house in Curahuasi. The missionary doctors slept with their children on the mattresses on the first floor. They were the only foreigners in the Andean village at the time. The picture shows Natalie and Dominik John (now doctors themselves) and Dr. Martina John. Not pictured is the youngest member of the team: Florian Tim John. The three-year-old was probably playing in the yard. The whole thing was called indoor camping with an extremely rustic touch.

On November 5, 2008, 15 years ago, we reported on the arrival of the 18th container. The missionaries in the picture (from left to right) were Michael Mörl, Stefan Höfer, Timo Klingelhöfer and Gerhard Wieland. They have all long since returned to Germany. Dominik John and a Peruvian employee can also be seen. In the meantime, our container no. 81 is waiting in customs for its release.

10 years ago today, we presented a special tribute to Christian Oswald on our website. The physicist had actually managed to repair our computer tomograph. Following the morning service, he received a cardboard medal and a wet handshake.

In November 2018, a team led by Udo Klemenz expanded the media center. Wasn’t that just yesterday? No, another five years have passed.
Over the past two decades, a monument to faith has been built in Curahuasi. Over 200 long-term missionaries from 16 countries have contributed to this development with a lot of passion and sweat. Perhaps we will sit around a table at the banquet in heaven and tell each other stories. Stories with three things in common: They are exciting, truthful and almost unbelievable. /KDJ
