The new volunteers have arrived

You are motivated down to your fingertips

Rahel Böttcher, Ellen Drechsel, Marlen Breuer and Levi Schöneich (from left to right) have crossed the Apurimac River and are now living in Curahuasi for a year. The International Youth Volunteer Service made it possible and the German government is subsidizing their trip overseas. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Federal Chancellor.

Now it’s time to get a good night’s sleep and roll up their sleeves early in the morning. The first week is intended to provide orientation in their fields of work. On Friday, Interpol will give the new arrivals a thorough check-up. Judging by their CVs, however, this check should not be a problem. So, if the four of them do valuable work, we’ll simply extend their assignment for another year, maybe even two or three. After all, we don’t like to let capable people move on.

Rahel Böttcher comes from Berlin, Ellen Sophie Drechsel from Herbrechtingen, Marlen Breuer from Mötzingen and Levi Schoeneich from Lübeck. Two of them will help at the hospital and two at the school. We hope that our friends in the Andes will gain experiences that will last a lifetime – and only good ones. In any case, we say: “Bienvenidos!”
