Now the long journey from continent to continent begins
To the layman, a computer tomograph (CT) and a magnetic resonance tomograph (MRT) are like two peas in a pod. But the inside of the machines is fundamentally different. While a CT uses X-rays, an MRI uses strong magnetic fields.
A week ago, the dignitaries of the German Future Prize 2023 cut the red ribbon and handed over our MRI scanner. Today we were informed that our new CT scanner is waiting to be transported away.
As a reminder, we received the best price from Siemens in living memory. And this amount was paid by a private family who are currently building their own house. As the father of several children told me over a cup of tea, the family could of course have invested the money in luxurious bathrooms and a state-of-the-art kitchen. “We didn’t do that, but wanted to help Diospi Suyana buy a new CT!” Such generosity leaves us speechless and grateful. /KDJ
