A fitting comment to Christmas 2021

When are we finally through it? – A message of hope

Translator’s note: this poem rhymes in the German.

We live in the pandemic, with alpha, beta, gamma, chi,
And we ask ourselves will this suffering never end?
Will pi come after omicron?  And after epsilon phi?
But when the misery screamed to heaven, God sent
Salvation that gave us eternity.
God shows here true empathy: called alpha and omega (KDJ)

Wir leben in der Pandemie
mit Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Xi
Und man fragt sich irgendwie
endet dieses Leiden nie?
Kommt nach Omikron das Pi?
Und nach Ypsilon das Phi?
Doch als die Not zum Himmel schrie,
sandte Gott die Rettung, die
uns die Ewigkeit verlieh.
Gott zeigt hier wahre Empathie
Alpha und Omega – heißt sie. (KDJ)

From the last book of the Bible chapter 22:

There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.

I am alpha and omega, the first and the last, the origin and the goal.

14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.…

Since 2000 years Christ’s birth is no sentimental family celebration, but the hope that God will solve and has solved the fundamental problems of human existence.
