What a Thursday – three important events at Diospi Suyana

A day like a picture book

Curahuasi: Concentrated tension in the operating room. On the table is a 62-year-old Quechua patient. In this three-and-a-half-hour procedure, the mother of four children will get rid of a time bomb that could have gone off at any time. Her aortic aneurysm of 10 cm had steadily increased in size over the months. After being diagnosed in Cusco, she and her family drove past the state hospitals directly to Curahuasi. Surgery is purely a matter of trust. A team led by our vascular surgeon Thomas Tielmann performed the successful procedure.

Hospital Diospi Suyana is the only hospital in the state of Apurimac that has experience with such procedures.

When such an aortic aneurysm bursts, most people die within minutes from the internal bleeding.

Ayacucho: In the distant state of Ayacucho, Diospi Suyana acquired a plot of land on the same day for the construction of a radio tower. The work is scheduled to begin next Wednesday. Notary Medino did not lose a useless word as he wrote on the contract behind his computer. The price was well below our expectations.

Perth, Australia: On Thursday, the switchover of all 11 Diospi Suyana transmitters on Intelsat’s satellite began. Preliminary discussions and coordination were led by Chris Welch from Australia. Three groups have been adjusting our connections since Thursday. For this purpose, a total of over 3000 km of driving distance must be covered in various cars.

Chris Welch oversees the technical operations in Perth, Australia.
