The progress of the last few days
Dear Friends, the weather in Curahuasi has calmed down, the temperature has increased markedly, the winter in the Southern Hemisphere is coming to an end, while the work on the Media Centre’s new storey is nowhere near being finished.
The making of the perimeter beams has become a new routine procedure and is progressing nicely. The building floor plan has the shape of a quarter of a circle and the perimeter beams of the two straight sides of the building have already been concreted. Now the curved edged beams are being reinforced, encased and concreted.
We have signed the contract with the subcontractor who will complete the further iron works needed to rebuild the roof. The subcontractor has started cleaning and priming the U-beams and has started welding them into rectangular tubes.
In order to be able to build the two new operating theatres we need to narrow the access road by 80cms. Two helpers have started cutting and chiselling the road surface with a flex.
We have no hot-off-the-press update on the state of our aerial tower in Echarati. The pictures show that the foundations for the mast have been concreted and that most of the enclosing wall and the inner equipment hut have been completed. The erecting of the tower could happen in the very near future. The same subcontractor is also in charge of the construction of the facilities and of building of the tower.
This week due to the bank holiday (Sta. Rosa de Lima) we can stop work at Friday lunchtime.
