Nobody knows what will happen on Wednesday
Trade unions, radical political groups and organizations of mountain farmers (campesinos) want to force the resignation of the government through mass demonstrations this Wednesday. The action is called: “Toma de Lima (Taking Lima). More than 20,000 police officers are to guarantee order in the capital. If the protests, which will be much more severe in the south of the country than in the north, were to succeed, Peru would descend into domestic chaos.
For the sake of stability, it would make sense for President Dina Boluarte and the congressmen to continue in office until the end of the electoral term in 2026. The general assessment is that the police and army will side with the government. (Photo: La República)
