A prophecy has been fulfilled
In December 2003: In one hour, a cab driver would take the five Johns from Curahuasi to the airport in Cusco. Despite the hard work of 10 builders, the renovation of our adobe house had unfortunately remained unfinished. In January 2004, we wanted to publicize our lifelong dream as part of a lecture tour. I picked up my devotional book and read the recommended Bible passage of the day. It was in the 40th Psalm and I read the text in my Spanish Bible: “He gave me a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many people will hear this and respect the Lord again and trust in him!” – Thoughtfully, I closed the Bible. Could it be that our project of a high-tech hospital – although still completely unknown – would one day become so exciting that many would be willing to hear this story?
20 years ago today – on January 16, 2004 – the missionary doctors John gave their first lecture at a Frankfurt school. Two decades have passed to the day. And that is the bottom line:
The Johns have sung this song of praise to God 3,263 times so far. They gave 1,708 lectures in European countries, 1,314 presentations in South American countries and 166 times they told the story to audiences in North and Central America. And 75 times in front of audiences in Australia and Asia.
According to the data available, 151,829 people attended these events in person. The presentations on YouTube were watched by over 200,000 viewers. The lectures were also shown on television channels in Germany and Peru. Somewhere between half a million and a million people have heard this hymn of praise (a Power Point presentation) from the mouths of the Johns.
Dr. John spoke at congresses and in churches of all denominations, in Rotary and Lion Clubs, at universities and schools, in retirement homes and kindergartens. In the government palace of Peru, in Bellevue Palace and also at the famous Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston in front of Harvard professors. Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, New Age freaks, agnostics and thousands upon thousands of atheists have heard the conviction of a German-Peruvian medical couple: the God of the Bible is real and we must take him seriously.
107 TV reports on all continents – some broadcast via satellite networks – brought the amazing development of Diospi Suyana into living rooms, kitchens, restaurants and church communities worldwide. Over 500 further reports in the press and on the radio were added. After analyzing the media data in terms of audience ratings, readership and listeners, we should have long since left the 100 million mark behind us.
A secular TV report was even broadcast in Arabic in North Africa and on the Arabian Peninsula. It lasted 25 minutes and was about a hospital of hope in Peru. Diospi Suyana.
As mentioned above, the first audience consisted of around 50 pupils from an educational establishment in Frankfurt.
20 years ago today. The Bible verse had simply been a prophecy. “He put a new song in my mouth … and many people will hear it!” /KDJ
