That’s almost sabotage

Protestant pastor surprises with unexpected announcement

The beautiful Reformed Church in Hagen on the Bergischer Ring has been waiting for guests for 150 years.
Attendance at church services within these walls is twice as high as the national average and there are good reasons for this. The writing on the pulpit makes it clear that the central statements of faith have not been thrown overboard.

The last word from a missionary doctor from Peru has long since died away and Pastor Torsten Karbe takes the microphone.

“It’s not so easy to carry on with the normal announcements after a talk like this!” The clergyman is right and probably all 80 visitors in the hall agree with him.
.
“…and I would like to invite you to next Sunday’s service,” says the pastor, “if you want, you can read a few chapters from Dr. John’s book during the sermon.
But only from his!” Everyone laughs.
.
There are many people in this congregation who take their faith very seriously. A group of addicts meets here and they are also involved in a soup kitchen. “Christmas in a shoebox” with presents for poor children at Christmas is also part of the social program. Last but not least, the Hagen Reformed Church supports the Diospi Suyana missionary hospital through various campaigns.

In keeping with Thanksgiving, Klaus John said from the bottom of his heart to those gathered in the nave: “Thank you!”

The members of this congregation are very active. But above all, the pastor preaches from the pulpit about Jesus Christ. It is about a hope that can change life before death and even has life after death in mind. That’s why no one should leaf through books during the sermon next Sunday, but listen carefully to what is being said. /KDJ
