A wonderful surprise
Yesterday Helene Peters handed us a €550 cheque for the Hospital Diospi Suyana. Founder Dr Martina John was delighted and expressed her heartfelt thanks. One could see this present as something that happens on a regular basis, but the story behind it is exceptional.
On 20th November 2017 Dr Klaus John gave a presentation at the Gymnasium-Realschule Eringerfeld to an audience that was made up of 80% Muslim pupils. For an hour they listened attentively to the missionary doctor’s words. By the end no one doubted any longer that the speaker at the microphone was talking about the man whom the Koran calls the prophet Isa.
Over the next few weeks the missionary hospital in Peru kept coming up in the youths’ conversations. Recently the class 8A raised funds for a humanitarian project: they baked waffles and cakes and made salads and sold these both to schoolmates as well as to visitors to the shopping centre in Salzkotten. The pupils wanted to donate the funds raised to Diospi Suyana.
A really fantastic result. We thank our Muslim supporters for their help. We are delighted that a predominantly Muslim school allowed a devout Christian to address the whole school.
