After reading “Hope in the Andes”

The young adult book *Hope in the Andes* (German: *Der Doktor mit dem Draht zu Gott*) is available in several languages. Some time ago, the Rojek family from Michigan read the approximately 200-page book. It became a family experience, as parents and children devoured the non-fiction account together. For several months now, the Rojeks have been traveling through several countries and visiting Christian aid projects. They are amazed at what God is accomplishing through people all over the world. And whenever the opportunity arises, they pitch in to help.

During their tour of Peru, they suddenly realized that the Diospi Suyana Hospital was quite close to their itinerary. So they took a detour from Cusco to Curahuasi. Two days ago, they were given a detailed tour of the facility and even heard its history illustrated with interesting pictures. “We’re totally blown away by what we’ve seen and heard here!” said the five Americans.

Dr. Martina John especially encouraged the children to devote their lives to serving God as well. Who knows—perhaps her words will bear fruit one day. In any case, the children’s wide-eyed expressions speak volumes. The correct order would be: first read, then visit, and finally get involved. /KDJ

The lecture has just ended. The three children remained wide awake.
Dr. Martina John encourages the children to join Diospi Suyana someday.
