The Responsible Use of Our Resources
At Diospi Suyana Hospital, the use of medications and medical supplies runs into the high six figures. Day after day, our logistics staff unpack the shipments and deliver the products by the box to the various departments. You might think that one more or one fewer tablet wouldn’t make any difference. But that’s not the case.
At regular intervals, our staff and missionaries count the contents of all compartments and drawers. Patches, ampoules, tablets, IV solutions, etc., are recorded in lists. In this way, we determine the current inventory and calculate the usual shrinkage, which we hope will be minimal. The responsible management of our donations makes this procedure a mandatory practice.
Interestingly, Jesus Christ said, “Only those who are faithful in small matters will also be faithful in large ones.” If you are untrustworthy in small matters, you will be so in large ones as well. So if you do not handle the money—which is tainted by so much injustice—well and faithfully, who will want to entrust you with the riches of heaven? If you mismanage the possessions that God has entrusted to you only temporarily, how can he then give you the things that are truly meant to be yours?” (Luke 16:10–12, from *Hope for All*)

Every ampoule, no matter how small, is counted.
