Finally we have made personal contact to the current government
Daniel Dressler could not have taken a better picture yesterday. At 6 a.m. a colourful rainbow stood above Curahuasi. This weather phenomenon has been equated to God’s faithfulness for millennia. We experienced his faithfulness again yesterday, in Lima.
The result of the email contact on 12th January between the Health Minister, Dra. Patricia García, and Dr John was an invitation to her office. A hopeful journey through the night and a flight to the capital the next morning. But the 2:30 p.m. appointment was on the point of falling through, as a Kommision was conferring with the Minister. The secretary shrugged her shoulders: “What is not possible, is not possible!”
“I have spent half the night travelling from Apurimac just for this meeting, which you organised,” answered the visibly frustrated German-Peruvian. His words had an impact with the assistant and she offered him an appointment at 6 p.m. Just over three hours later however, a phone-call came cancelling the meeting: “The Minister’s agenda is overflowing; she has no time for you.”
The many prayers lifted up in the past 24 hours were not spoken in vain. At 7:20 p.m. the doors to the big conference room opened and the presentation could start. The Minister, having obviously had a very hard day, was alert and asked several, very-detailed questions.
We do not know what will result from this conversation, but we thank God for 45 minutes on the executive floor.
