From caterpillar to butterfly

A women’s conference with Marie Carmen Didier

Around 150 women from the Curahuasi district took part in this three-day series of events. The audience was a colorful mix of Quechua women from the mountain villages and entrepreneurs from the small town. The message of Sra. Didier dealt with the two essential questions of life: 1. who am I and 2 What is the purpose of my existence? Using an analogy of the development of a caterpillar into a butterfly, the speaker explained that God can give us an appreciative identity. It became obvious that Marie Carmen Didier was speaking straight to the women’s hearts. People laughed, cried and rearranged relationships.

Discussion groups, meditations and workshops complemented the lectures. As a farewell, many wished for another women’s conference in the near future. (Photos: Marielene Lächele. She was also responsible for the overall organization of the conference)
