A confidential conversation lasting over an hour
This important audience with Dr. Pedro Riega, dean of all Peruvian doctors, was the result of a friendly initiative by Dr. Jose Ponce (right). The dean of the state of Apurimac had kindly arranged the meeting in Lima. After the usual presentation by Dr. Klaus John on the history and vision of Diospi Suyana, the three discussed some important topics.
In Peru, there are 1.6 doctors per 1,000 inhabitants (Germany: 4.5; USA: 3.6). That would be around 55,000 doctors for 34 million people.
The first contact was made by Deputy Hospital Director Dr. Thomas Tielmann and Head of Administration Louis Fischer at the beginning of April. Experience in recent years has shown that a direct line to the top is of great importance.
