The patient has every reason to be happy
Bleeding disorders, anaemia and diffuse pain in the lower abdomen are typical symptoms of a myoma. On Tuesday one woman suffering from these symptoms was operated on in the hospital Diospi Suyana. Originally a hysterectomy was planned. But after the resection of the benign tumour the rest of the organ was inconspicuous.
After the surgical intervention the young patient felt relieved (quite literally). The surgery preparation filled a large bowl. But the assistant doctor (left) was delighted working on the interesting case.
Dr Miriam Boeker writes: “Training Peruvian assistant doctors guarantees a knowledge transfer to the local population. The more hands there are on deck, the easier the work becomes!” She is right in what she says.
