An atheist knew the way
The young pharmacist has been put through some challenges in her life. She grew up in a Protestant family and joined in the usual Christian traditions. However, when her brother finally succumbed to skin cancer, she began to question God. Does God really exist? Claudia started to search.
Years later, Claudia became a believer through a contact with a convinced Christian in the truest sense of the word. Her desire is to see God’s will come true in her life. But what was her life’s mission supposed to be? She would have liked to practice her profession for a few years at a mission hospital. Then she hears about Diospi Suyana in Peru. While she found the idea of working there exciting she was not really sure: should she really go to South America? For days she prayed for a sign from above.
In her pharmacy in Munich, Germany, Claudia works with three colleagues. One of them is a muslim, another is an orthodox Christian, and the third is an atheist. One morning, the atheist says to Caudia: “Listen, yesterday I was surfing the TV channels and out of boredom got stuck on Bible TV. They were talking about a mission hospital in the Andes. It’s called Diospi Suyana. They say the hospital has been built on a series of ‘miracles’ – and they are looking for volunteer employees!”
The conversation of the two became more serious at they talked until, finally, Claudia’s colleague said “Your job here just isn’t going to fit like the one you could do in Peru!” Deep down Claudia felt immediately that this is was what she had been waiting to hear. She now lives in Curahuasi.
Isn’t it interesting how God leads us? Sometimes He speaks to us through prayer, sometimes by reading the Bible, and sometimes by unusual means. For Claudia, it was through an atheist.
