The historic moment occurred just after 1p.m. on 30th October
Three years passed from the initial idea to the lift’s completion. About an hour ago Diospi Suyana celebrated the new lift’s maiden voyage.
Technicians Jamer Tirado and Alfredo Cruz (left) have done a fantastic job. Dr Ursula Buck wearing the white doctor’s coat knows how precious this project is. The lift can transport a maximum of 13 persons at once to the first level. Great news for all visually impaired patients who no longer have to fall up or down the stairs.
A cordial thank you to the German GAT cooperation: the group of companies shouldered this project together. A thank you also goes to Udo Klemenz and his team for the building of the shaft and a thumbs-up to Oebele de Haan who installed the roof and the required platform.
We hope that the lift will be used frequently. The building that holds the dental and eye clinic was opened in June 2010; since then 64,000 patients have been treated on both floors. /KDJ
