Brain drain at Diospi Suyana

This change is a real challenge

On Sunday we bade farewell to ten long-serving colleagues.  They will leave Curahuasi in the next few weeks and head back home.  In the past few years they have held important key positions at Diospi Suyana and have thereby shown great enthusiasm.  The loss of spiritual potential at both the hospital and also at the school is immense.  One wonders how things will continue.

(From left to right) Building engineer Udo Klemenz and his wife Barbara – one cannot imagine the history of Diospi Suyana without them.  One week after the 10th anniversary celebrations they will return to Germany.  Medical technician Markus Rolli and his wife Julianna (teacher) spent almost six years in Peru showing almost tireless dedication.  Head of Administration Stefan Seiler (above holding the microphone) and his wife Tabea (speech therapist) leave a hole that will be difficult to fill.  Dr Ilse Schütze and her husband Peter (janitor) earned a lot of the team’s respect through their flexibility and their commitment.

Physiotherapist Hanna Fries (bottom far left) and anaesthesia nurse Dana Hennig (bottom, fourth from the left) were colleagues beyond reproach, who all of us will miss sorely.

On the one hand a deep feeling of gratitude for the shared time remains.  On the other hand the worries of possible problems, which the departure of our friends could cause for the work of Diospi Suyana, start to weigh.  Therefore once again we turn to God who knows everything and can do everything.  With his help many can surpass themselves and the work will continue.

Seven voluntary welfare workers for one year will soon be packing their bags (from left to right): Louis Fischer, Carl Sturm, Philomena Rambach, Prisca Seidel, Sophia Leihkauf, Emily Speidel and Arne Lütjohann

The seven of them have passed the last 12 months with distinction and will be replaced in August with the next one-year group.

The party in the garden of Diospi Suyana’s Children’s House. The rays of the evening sun brought some melancholy feelings.
Hearty brass music however, ensured that positive feelings held sway.
