Over 50 Diospi Suyana employees earn a medal for bravery
A rainy Saturday morning. This damp and cold makes you want to stay in bed. Nevertheless, over 50 volunteers gathered early in the morning for a medical village mission. Two hours‘ drive through 1000 bends over the mountains and arrival in the Quechua village of Huarocondo at 9 am. The village hall was divided into several consulting rooms. The Diospi Suyana team managed to treat 300 patients of all ages in the next six hours.
The medical spectrum was impressive. It included general medicine, pediatrics, traumatology, ophthalmology, odontology, urology and physiotherapy. A mobile pharmacy and an ultrasound service completed the offering.
There was a colorful program for the children. Pastor Marcos held two devotions and the clothing store donated warm textiles to those in need.
Our employees – missionaries and Peruvian colleagues alike – invested an entire weekend day. Their payment was zero euros. Why do people do this? We find the answer in faith in Jesus Christ. He said 2000 years ago: „Whatever you did to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did to me!“
