30th August – The Day of the Peruvian Nurses

Thanks and recognition for their work

On 30th August the Peruvians celebrate the bank holiday: “Santa Rosa de Lima” which the country’s nurses have claimed to be theirs.  Admittedly the small celebration at the Hospital Diospi Suyana took place on 29th August.  Roughly 50 nurses and carers came during the course of the evening and enjoyed the buffet’s delicacies.
Nursing manager Damaris Haßfeld held the thank-you-speech after which Dr Martina John spoke about the words from Isaiah 40:31: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (KJV)

As a small gift everyone was given a personalised cup.  A lovely party with a good atmosphere.  Now it is back to work for the next 365 days.

Buen provecho! – bon appetit!
