May to August
The children’s clubs are the oldest branch of Diospi Suyana’s work. According to conservative estimates, 10,000 different boys and girls have attended the clubs. However, if one were to add up the weekly attendance figures since 2005, it would be around 200,000 visitors.

Milan (4) was sent home three times from a government hospital with good words and pills. Finally the parents brought their seriously ill boy to the Diospi Suyana Hospital. The diagnosis was: meningitis caused by pneumococcus! Despite extensive treatment, he slipped into a coma. The day after the
youth festival, several people knelt at his bedside and cried out to God for help. It was another long fight for his life, but six months later he was able to sit and walk again. Cognitively, he understands everything. The joy in the family is boundless.

No one knows how many times we have told the story of this wonderful donation. In the current book “Diospi Suyana – an experiment with God” the breathtaking background is meticulously documented. The three winners of the German Future Prize 2023 Dr. Stephan Biber, Dr. David Grodzki and Prof. Dr. Michael Uder donated their prize money to this enormous donation in kind. The amount was matched by Siemens Healthineers and Siemens Caring Hands.
The trigger for this fabulous development began with a certain Dr. Stefan Uder, who got lost on Spotify in 2022 and downloaded the first book about Diospi Suyana instead of a song by the group Patchwork. He then established contact between Dr. Klaus John and the award winners in Erlangen. On November 27, 2024, the donation was symbolically handed over to Diospi Suyana in a festive ceremony at Bellevue Palace in the presence of the German Federal President.

It was a special coincidence: Rafael Lopez Aliaga, mayor of the 10 million metropolis of Lima, received two Diospi Suyana missionary doctors in his office. At the end Dr. Benjamin Zeier said a prayer for the top politician, who has a good chance of becoming Peru’s next president.

Estudio Olaechea” has been supporting the work of Diospi Suyana for 16 years. Our mission has won over 10 legal disputes thanks to the experience of this group of lawyers. At the invitation of Dr. Jose Olaechea, Dr. Klaus John spoke as keynote speaker at an international lawyers’ conference in Cusco. Using 200 pictures, he explained why he believes that the God of the Bible is not a character from a storybook.

The company Medtron from Saarbrücken donated a new contrast medium pump for the MRI to our mission hospital (> 30,000 USD).

The children’s clubs camped out on the festival site for the first time. Great enthusiasm and sparkling eyes. One child asked the right question: “Why can’t we party for five days like at the youth festival?” It is quite clear that the children’s clubs will return soon – with a larger line-up and for at least three days.

The occasion was worth celebrating on a grand scale. BBraun donated laparoscopic instruments in the high five-figure range through its representative in Peru. The Peruvian General Director Oscar Lobaton and three of his employees traveled from Lima especially to make the handover in person. The Braun family had already pledged their support in October 2024 following a meeting with Dr. Klaus John. At the time, CEO Ana Maria Braun said: “We won’t let our friends down!”

The time had finally come. The first patient went into the famous tube. A big thank you to three teams from Erlangen University Hospital, who instructed our staff in the operation of the MRI scanner free of charge over several months.

Günter and Ruth Baumgarten from Fraureuth near Zwickau celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on July 5. Surrounded by 4 children and 10 grandchildren. They decided not to give presents. Instead they supported Diospi Suyana with a proud donation. Their daughter Bettina (2nd from left with blonde hair) was one of the first missionaries in 2007 when the hospital opened its doors. According to data available, private individuals have carried out over 1,700 campaigns for Diospi Suyana since 2004. It was ordinary people in many countries who made Diospi Suyana possible through their generosity. Contrary to first appearances, companies have played a much smaller role.

On Wednesday, July 23rd Diospi Suyana’s children’s clubs celebrated a big party. Twelve stations from the life of David demanded the active participation of the 650 children. The three-hour program was educational, exciting and entertaining. As a small gift the boys and girls received cookies, a drink and a beautiful book about the most important king of the Old Testament.

On July 25th the Colegio Diospi Suyana celebrated its 11th anniversary. (In reality, the anniversary is in the second week of March). The pupils from the lower and upper school as well as the little ones from the kindergarten filled the gymnasium to capacity. All of the speeches and folkloric dance interludes focused on God’s grace. That is why the word “gratitude” was at the heart of the program. Christmas 2025 marked the official end of our Colegio’s 12th year of operation.

An unforgettable day. The winners of the German Future Prize 2023 traveled to Peru with their families. Their three-day visit will always be remembered fondly by both the guests and the hospital staff.

On the initiative of the Lächele family, our “Christian meeting place” was equipped with products for 60 beds. All in excellent Baden-Württemberg quality. The value of this extremely generous donation was in the five-figure range.

Every Thursday, Margarita Wiens has her hands full. Between 10 and 14 patients wait patiently for their turn. Margarita treats wounds of all shapes and sizes in a professional manner. There is certainly no other place in the entire state of Apurimac where wound care is of such a high standard. On August 21, Donna Merzedes came to the consultation. After a fall, she suffered a deep wound on her left shin. Nurse Margarita was the right address for the Quechua woman. She was 102 years old on the day of treatment!

August 26: Diospi Suyana received five new dental chairs for the inauguration of our dental clinic in 2010. Over the years, three of the chairs have even been replaced by the next generation. In August, the last two Intego chairs were also replaced with new units. The company donated a sum of 65,000 euros.

At the end of August, the staff took part in the annual company outing and at the same time commemorated the 18th birthday of our hospital. Diospi Suyana’s festival grounds provided the perfect setting. The six hours were filled with games, fun and a hearty meal.
In 2007, the team consisted of 31 missionaries and about the same number of Peruvians. In 2025, the Diospi Suyana family comprises over 300 employees who make an incredible difference in the various working groups. We thank all volunteers and Peruvian employees for their valiant efforts. And of course we remember that God has made the impossible possible in the history of Diospi Suyana.
