When the 18-month-old boy was brought to the Diospi Suyana Hospital by his mother on Saturday, he was not feeling well. Almost one million infants die from pneumonia every year. One of the most common causes is a lack of access to adequate and affordable healthcare.
Pediatrician Dr. Christian Reibold initiated all the necessary therapeutic measures after the physical examination. In particular, the prescription of oxygen and the right antibiotic led to a breakthrough. If little Emir continues to stabilize, he could be discharged home in the course of this week.
