Waiting is rewarded

In front of and in the Hospital Diospi Suyana’s emergeny unit

It is almost time for the 8p.m. news.  A doctor and a medical student are writing reports for the patient files.  They look like the last of the Mohicans.  A few patients are still sitting on some of the beds of the A+E.  Compared to the afternoon’s busyness it has become incredibly calm.  It is amazing that our small team was able to treat so many patients.  The long journey to the hospital was worth it for those patients who are able to wait.  They each had their turn.  Examination reports and laboratory results are recorded accurately.

During the ensuing night hours most of them will be sitting in intercity buses heading back home: journeys of up to twenty hours.  Others will arrive and join the queue outside the missionary hospital.

It is the rainy season.  During the night and in the morning it rains cats and dogs.  But the inclement weather deters no one.  Here one hears a friendly word, there an encouraging joke.  Understanding and love.  The best prices in the country and good results.  And faith in Jesus Christ stands above it all.

The waiting room in front of the emergency department is bursting at the seams.
The big waiting room at the hospital’s main entrance.
It rained until lunchtime.
