Everyone is pulling in the same direction
Dear Friends, my wife, Barbara, and I would like to express our heartfelt thanks for all the wishes, congratulations, etc we received on the occasion of our golden wedding anniversary – we were very touched and we thank God that we could celebrate this special event in Perú.
The building work is continuing to make good progress and despite the circumstances the rather complicated rebuilding of the taken-down roof is coming closer and closer.
This week the structural works progressed especially nicely. The concrete ceiling joists #2+3 have been completed and #4 is currently being concreted.
The reinforcement works for the final beam are nearing completion. Then only the ringwall openings on the brickwork and some minor joists will be missing.
Our subcontractor working on the roof construction has started welding the U-beams into rectangular tubing. These, serving as a supporting girdiron for the fire-safety boards, will form the upper roofing layer. For static reasons we are unable to have a reinforced-concrete floor.
On Friday the High Cube Container carrying the fire-safety boards arrived on site. The Company Waltersbacher had generously donated the materials, the French shipping company CMA sponsored the sea-crossing and the Peruvian Andino-Group paid for the land transport from Lima to Curahuasi.
In order to put the fire-safety boards in place, Oebele de Haan, our master craftsman, extended his self-built material hoist by 3m.
Cordial greetings from Peru and wishing you a good weekend, Udo
