Stories that life writes

That doesn’t exist, does it?

Jonatan Proietti took part in the “Vida en los Andes” festival as a translator. He translated the evangelist Andres Palau in the amphitheater and on the Plaza de Armas on May 29 and 30.

On the evening of the last concert, the Argentinian asked me: “Klaus, have you ever been to Argentina?” – “Yes, I have, but that was nine years ago. Back then, I presented our work to a satellite company. Oh yes, I also met the President of the Protestant Church Council in Buenos Aires shortly before I left!”

Jonatan suddenly fixed me with his eyes. “What was the president’s name?” – “Hm, I can’t remember exactly!” I tried to find more information on our website, surely I had posted something about this encounter back then!” I scrolled up and down our website. But I couldn’t find anything.

Jonatan showed me some pictures on his smartphone: “Was it this man? he asked me. I realized that there was suddenly a certain tension in the air. – “Yes, exactly, it was him, why?”

Jonatan took a deep breath. “Then you were talking to my father!” – I am speechless.

Then Jonatan Proietti continued: “In 2020, my father traveled to Miami. There he contracted Covid and died soon after in a US intensive care unit!” Over 400 million people live in South America. At the festival in Curahuasi – in the middle of nowhere – I reached out to his son. It really was time for a selfie.

On May 7, 2016 in Buenos Aires: The President of the Evangelical Council of Churches, Pastor Ruben Proietti, his wife and a missionary doctor from Peru. Nine years later, his son Jonatan came to Curahuasi for the “Vida en los Andes” festival.
