Progress on the construction front

The current report of engineer Udo Klemenz

Dear Diospi Suyana friends, we have made very good progress this week with the construction work on the warehouse. The masonry of the 40cm thick rear wall is completed to a height of 3.30m including the integrated bracing columns and the cross beam. The wall is plastered and insulated to the ground, the drainage is laid and the working space is backfilled to 1.80m. Now the top ring beam still has to be shuttered and concreted. Then the working space can be filled further.

The front 20 cm thick masonry is also completed up to the required height. Here, work is being done on the bracing columns and the final ring beam.

A small group has continued to work on the wash house and toilet house. In the upper building, the missing screed was installed, for which the sanitary objects had to be dismantled once again beforehand. Outstanding minor remaining work was also completed.

In the lower building we started tiling during the week. The painter paints the roof cladding, then the gutters are installed.

Best wishes from Curahuasi and blessed Pentecost holidays, Udo.

Addendum: Excavations are being carried out at the historic mill ruins between campsite 2 + 3 under the supervision and guidance of an archaeologist.
