Peru between hope and fear

Everything is wide open in the presidential election in Peru

Peru voted yesterday and 55% of the votes have been counted (13.4 – 19:30 CET). It is certain that Keiko Fujimori, the daughter of former dictator Alberto Fujimori, will enter the decisive run-off. Four candidates still have a chance of reaching the second round. With 35 candidates, Peru achieved a dubious record. The missionary doctors John cast their votes yesterday in a school in Curahuasi. The final result will probably be available at midnight tonight (Peru time).

Once again, the country has a choice between the far right and the far left. No one can yet predict whether Peru will have a stable and functional government in the next election period.
