A youth club from Riesa has proved they can
Riesa is a small city 40km northwest of Dresden. And there on the banks of the River Elbe a youth club, made up of 9 youths, from the Evangelisch-Freikirchlichen Gemeinde meet regularly. A couple of days ago they made a huge donation for Diospi Suyana. Group leader, Falk Decker, tells us what happened behind the scenes.
In 2016 we supported a good cause in Ethiopia. We raised funds, gathered information and prayed. End of 2017 I watched a DVD about Diospi Suyana and immediately I thought: “This is our project for 2018!” Everyone was on board right from the start. First of all the children (and us) gathered information about Diospi Suyana in Peru.
In April we put on the first fund-raising event: a car-wash-day. We washed cars and asked for donations. This way we raised €222.

A certain Ms Marlies Guckland one of our church members was mightily impressed with the result. She suggested planting some bulbs and selling the flowers later on in the year at the city’s festival. No sooner said than done. The event was a total success. Family Guckland took great care of the young plants.

On 1st September everything was ready. Marlies had cut the flowers and made them into beautiful arrangements, the stall was set up and the poster was designed. “What was going to happen?” that was the big question. We sold almost all of the flowers and raised a further €567,98.
During the day we spoke full of enthusiasm about Diospi Suyana to the passersby. Initially some of them might have thought: “What a crazy idea.” But we felt God’s blessing and experienced firsthand that it is worth trusting in God in our city of Riesa.
In total we raised more than €1,200. Diospi Suyana thanks the youth group most cordially for their diligence and efforts.
