Semper hinc in altiora

Both literally and figuratively things at Diospi Suyana are going upwards

Hello Friends, today we have completed all the statically required concrete works.  Main supporting beam #5 was concreted at the beginning of the week and all the ringwall openings and secondary beams have also been completed.  Looking back we can thankfully say that the structural works went quicker and better than expected.  The building of the access ramp has turned out to be a real asset, since it will continue to be vital for transporting the material needed for the plastering and screed works.

The welding together of the U-profiles to rectangular tubing has become a routine that is coming along nicely.  At the same time our subcontractor for these works has started constructing the hollows sections on the grillage.  On the long front section we have started work on the horizontal bracing.

As usual everything has to be done by hand.  It is not much fun for our workers to carry a 150kg heavy steel profile via up the ramp and then heave it a further three metres onto the joist, but Peruvian workmen are used to a lot of things.  This week and at the same altitude Oebele de Haan has been working on the Amphitheatre’s roof.

Wishing you a blessed weekend and sending cordial greetings from Curahuasi, Udo.
