Pastor Bruno Spießwinkel is only 92 years old
Wide awake, interested and communicative. Short- and long-term memory are working perfectly, with a fire still burning in his heart. Passionately the retired pastor tells the Bible stories underlying his paintings. He loves speaking about his faith in God.
The picture next to him shows a young man forced to his knees by the crises of his life. Exhausted, knackered and totally drained. But in an old book you can read: “Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40,31)
Unfortunately the clock is ticking against us. I have to go, since I must travel two hours before reaching the location of my next talk. We close our eyes and pray for each other. Will we meet again? Of course, if not in Breklum, then on the other side.
