The Diospi Suyana School present at the Plaza de Armas
Director Jonathan Rosenkranz writes: While Peru is still waiting for the results of the presidential election, we already know who will be this year’s student representatives. Yesterday, Monday, 600 students from ten schools marched to the central square of the small town. With lively participation from the population, students with special offices were officially introduced to their tasks:
1. class representative
2. school police officer
3. safety officer for civil defense
4. ecological police officer
5. red cross
The Colegio Diospi Suyana sent a delegation of 108 students. The celebrations lasted two hours. On this occasion many parents presented their children with large and small gifts.
This custom may seem a little strange to Europeans, but it certainly raises the self-esteem of adolescents. And, of course, it is important to learn early on what it means to take responsibility in society.
