A report by social worker Deborah Centner
On the way to the hospital today I met more people than usual. Am I seeing disappointment in their eyes? This assumption seems to be right, because today their isn’t the long line outside the hospital gates. The patients will have to return another day. The reason: “Sorry, we have given out all the appointments available until Monday. We have too many patients and too few doctors.”
This is what was heard by Juan Romero and his family. For four years he has been fighting with painful ulcers on his leg, but so far no doctor could help him. Also, his grandsons have strong behavioral problems and once again no psychologist wants to intervene. The family lives mainly off items they sell in the street. When they hear of Diospi Suyana, they save almost a whole year and embark on the journey the lasts 12 hours, which was quite an ordeal with painful ulcers on his leg. And now they stand in front of the closed doors. Was it all in vain?

Our heartfelt prayer this morning in administration was that those who need it the most would receive an appointment. But Juan didn’t receive one. Once again, was it all in vain?
No! The loving hand of God ensured that another patient heard Juan’s story and gave him their coupon! In a country where everyone seems to have similar problems, this is a miracle!
