Dear Diospi Suyana friends and readers of the building report, This week the company UNTECSA finally managed to finish the installation of a steel door for the electrical room, yet three months later than contracted. Though we have saved money due to their break in the contract, we will think hard about whether we will work again with such an unreliable company.
Thanks to dry weather this week, we also have progressed in the outdoor facilities, sports field, and school garden. On the sports field, ditches have been dug for the drainage system. A total of over 200 meters of pipe will be laid to make sure the rainwater can drain quickly.
The progress in the school garden looks great as you can see in the pictures. The plateau is mounted on one side with stairs, which are reminiscent of Machu Picchu. On the other side it goes serpentine (still under construction), a reminder of the roads here in the Andes. The pond has nothing more to see than concrete, but how will it look with water? I’m just as excited and curious as you!
In the hospital, the work also continues. On the third floor, a staff bathroom is masoned and will be used by those in the new offices. The painter and floor tiler have yet to come, but more important we need to finish the windows. Unfortunately, this may take time, as the window manufacturer has delivery problems for this certain aluminum profile. However, we are confident it will be completed in good fashion since the company has fabricated 300 windows at the school.
I wish you a great week and God’s blessings, Johannes
