Simply unbeatable
Have you ever heard of something like this? Not only the staff receive presents, but the staff surprise everyone with small handmade presents. As part of yesterday’s Diospi Suyana Christmas Party our Peruvian colleagues gave all missionaries something special.
The cut-out bell shows the well-known scene from Bethlehem’s stable. Next to it is a sheep as a key-ring under which is a comment that could very easily go viral around the world.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all;
no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
In the darkest situations this message from the Gospel according to St John, chapter 10, verses 28 and 29 is the only thing that gives us hope. We are protected in God’s hand. We do not stumble, without a direction, through our existence that is filled with suffering, futile hype and broken promises. For we hear his voice and follow him. And no one can snatch us out of protecting arms, neither the Russian secret service, nor the Corona Virus; neither redundancy, nor an economic crisis.
It was half a century ago that I took the decision to follow this good shepherd come what may for time and eternity. /KDJ
