Citizen protest helps – Christians should always stand up for their convictions

Biblical inscription on the tower of the Berlin City Palace remains intact

In a pluralistic society, every group is allowed to make its voice heard in the public debate. When Minister of State Claudia Roth wanted to cover the inscription on the tower of the reconstructed Berlin City Palace last fall, tens of thousands of citizens protested. Diospi Suyana also criticized Ms. Roth’s decision on social media on Nov. 3, 2022. The effort was not in vain. The inscription should remain preserved and visible in the future.

Eight months ago we wrote the following lines on this subject:

“Western European culture stands on three hills. On the one hand on the Acropolis (Hellenism), on the other hand on the Capitol (Roman state system). And as historians know, the third hill is called Golgotha (Christianity). Of course, one can be critical of these roots, but one should pay them a certain respect.

Minister of State Claudia Roth wants to cover the Bible inscription on the tower of the reconstructed Berlin City Palace. There are the following Bible quotations: “There is salvation in no other (. . .) than in the name of Jesus, to the glory of God the Father. That in the name of Jesus all the knees of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth should bow!” It was none other than King Frederick William IV (1795-1861) who long ago chose these words.”

Courage is needed in stormy times. All too often in the past, Christians have remained silent. /KDJ
