Alfred Mähr and his Unique Journey

Alfred am Pult
In Gedanken wieder in den Bergen der Anden

Some might take a short bike ride on a Sunday afternoon through the town park- if the sun is shining. Alfred Mähr most likely smirks at such “nice weather athletes”. The adventurer rode a distance of 11,000 km in 2014 through the Andes. From Quito, the capital of Ecuador, to Ushuaia- the most southern town of Argentina. He knows exactly how it feels when the sun is beating down with no mercy or how the icy wind blows over the high plains. Uncountable times he experienced the lack of air at 4,500 meters and the pain of burning muscles. On this long trip he also passed by Diospi Suyana. But he didn’t stop because he was not aware of it. It was afterwards, that he first heard from an acquaintance about the “Hospital of Faith”. But this was enough.
At his many lectures he collected, with great enthusiasm, for the Hospital Diospi Suyana. Up to now, an impressive amount of USD 2,000 has been collected. He hopes to increase that amount to USD 2,500. In the second half of May, he would like to personally bring the results of his efforts to Curahuasi. It is not clear if he will get back on his bike or possibly more comfortably come by with a helicopter and land directly in front of the door. We will let it be a surprise. One thing we would already like to say now, loud and clear: “Many Special Thanks!”
