From suspicion to diagnosis and solution
12 years ago Diospi Suyana bought a new C-arm at factory price. The Peruvian company Tecnasa helped with contacts and service. Nothing lasts forever. When the trusty device that enables X-rays to be taken in motion broke down, a technician from Lima turned up at some point. He looked and screwed around in the machine, but without finding the fault. Shrugging his shoulders, he traveled back to the capital.
Mechatronics technician Ruben Bereswill still didn’t want to give up on the C-arm. He opened the large cable harness between the X-ray machine and the computer and spent 12 hours analyzing 27 pins. He discovered small cracks in three of them, which he immediately soldered. Now the X-ray machine works like new. And we are all deeply impressed by the patience and acumen of our volunteer.
Ruben has a personal weakness for cats. The hospital management granted his wish and got him a cat for his great achievements. A cute little animal that doesn’t scratch, doesn’t make a mess and keeps food consumption to a minimum. Ruben well done! //KDJ
