We all need a bailout

Schirm des Hoechsten 2
In uncertain times

The European Stability Mechanism wants to rescue the Greek economy through using 83 billions of euros. The term “rescue” is ancient, because it comes from the Bible. Psalm 91, which was written about 3,000 years ago, says:

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord: He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.”

Crises and defeats, disease and death affect all of us. Fatalities cannot be explained away. Meditative exercises cannot console the loss of our dearest friends. But God can. The shield of the Most High is no impersonal force field, but the individual attention of God for everyone who trusts him.

It sounds almost too good to be true—but we need to take God’s promises seriously. Only then can we count on him. / KDJ
