With stopover in Curahuasi
Yesterday morning, the Diospi Suyana School received some important visitors. The German Consul General in Rio de Janeiro made a 6000 km long trip through South America, with a stopover at our school. With this trip, the diplomats advertised the “Vía Interoceánica”, the road that connects the Atlantic to the Pacific. Since the regional government of Apurimac maintains that our school is an important state institution, they suggested a visit here.
The dignitaries were visibly moved as the marching band, led by our music teacher Jorge Calua, played “Ode to Joy” from Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. The guests were not expected in the Andes, and although they were in a hurry, they enjoyed a tour of the school. The Consul General was particularly impressed by the kindergarten, which is so different from that of traditional Peruvian institutions. The Vice-Governor of the state concluded that the school is a model in the region. Director Christian Bigalke stressed that this exceptional project had been made possible by the grace of God. The teachers always give their best. For the students, this school is a great opportunity to move forward in life.
