Our orthopaedic workshop is a great blessing
Life is a drama and accidents often lead to tragedies in Peru. Don Adan in the red shirt is 61 years old. He lives in the Madre de Dios jungle region. Almost four decades ago, a tree fell on his right leg. At some point, he received a prosthesis in Lima, which worked more poorly than well. He heard about Diospi Suyana from an acquaintance. Our master orthopaedic technician Christian Haupt and his assistant Alex Ávalos were actually able to help him. With his new artificial leg it will be much easier for him to work as a welder.
Don Cayo lives in the state of Ayachucho, over 1,000 km away from the home of his fellow sufferer. He is also a welder and also lost his lower right limb in an accident. Like Don Adan, he knocked on the door of our orthopaedic center seeking help. Not in vain.
We are delighted that our employees are providing so many disabled people with modern prostheses. The patients’ self-esteem grows with their improved independence and this awakens unimagined energies.
