Better than nothing, but quite little
Every two months, long lines form in front of the branch of the state-owned bank “Banco de la Nación” in Curahuasi. Fellow citizens over the age of 65 can pick up a poor person’s pension of 250 soles (~ €60) at the counter. This results in an amount of 125 Soles (~ 30 €) per month.
Only the very poor, who do not otherwise receive pension payments from the state or private sources, are eligible to receive them. It is not surprising that the queue is dominated by the costumes of the Quechua Indians. They live at the subsistence level and are exactly the target group of Diospi Suyana Hospital.
