The hospital ward is buzzing

And one of the culprits is Dr. Fritz Meiswinkel

All the hospital rooms are full. And nobody knows what else the night will bring. Yesterday, 13 operations were carried out in the operating theaters. Traumatologist Fritz Meiswinkel (in black T-shirt) and his wife Solveig (back left) help wherever they can. Their goal: to help as many patients as possible at the Hospital Diospi Suyana during their vacation time.

When the bone surgeon from Schwäbisch Hall arrived the day before yesterday, he had to go straight into surgery. A eucalyptus tree almost killed a Quechua man. But the heavy weight “only” hit his lower right leg. The force of the impact resulted in a fractured tibia and extensive soft tissue injuries.

Five patients lie in one room after suffering from food poisoning. The salmonella infection affected 26 people in Curahuasi at the weekend.

The latest statistical survey on October 31 revealed the following picture: since the hospital opened, the computer system has registered 604,630 patient visits. The number of operations has increased to 19,528 cases. Our patients are still mainly Quechuas (descendants of the Incas) and poor mountain farmers.

We now wish all patients a peaceful night and a speedy recovery. /KDJ
